New Visa Requirements for Working in the UAE

Certificate of Good Standing

The UAE’s Coordination Committee has announced that as of the 4th of February 2018, any expatriate looking to work within the UAE must acquire a Certificate of Good Conduct as a pre-requisite to being issued a work permit. This Certificate must be issued by an expatriate’s home country or the country in which the expatriate had resided for the past five (5) years.

Additionally, upon issuance, the expatriates must have the Certificate attested by either the respective UAE Diplomatic Missions prior to departure or at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on arrival.

It is of importance to note that individuals retaining a valid work permit are currently not required to obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct. Similarly, the Certificate is not required for individuals travelling to the UAE on tourist visas, nor is it a requirement for dependents.
