The Legal Group Establishes Presence In Saudi Arabia

The Legal Group (TLG) is proud to announce the opening of a new branch in Saudi Arabia. This follows the directive issued earlier this year to allow GCC law firms to practice in The Kingdom.

At the beginning of the year Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Justice, Waleed Al-Samaani, announced and authorized lawyers from the Gulf states to be allowed to practice law in Saudi Arabia.

Under this new decision, one of the conditions is that a lawyer should be a citizen of one of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and be licensed to practice law in their respective country. There is also no requirement to be resident in Saudi Arabia.

The new development saw the adding of an article into the executive regulations stating that each partner in foreign law firms has to be registered to practice law in the Kingdom.

It is anticipated that this development, of adding GCC lawyers to the Saudi Lawyers list, will add a fresh diversity to the profession of law in the Kingdom. This will also help facilitate procedure of litigation to many Gulf companies located in the Kingdom resulting in increased investment.

This decision comes in accordance with the directives of the Council of Ministers to review the provisions contained in the executive regulations of the legal system regarding the conditions and restrictions of applicants from the GCC in practicing law to apply full equality of treatment.
